Student Perspective

This Journalism class will help you learn things such as:“The History Of Radio”, it’s inventors, how to properly present your work to a public audience, and how to present it on a podcast.

The Ninth grade experiences four Journalism classes: this one is focused on Broadcast Journalism, dealing with radio, television, and podcasts.

Teacher Perspective

Broadcast Journalism  is one of the four aspects of the journalism sequence offered through the ninth grade extended day Journalism course.  Through a “hands on” approach with experiential learning the course will prepare students with skills needed to be successful throughout high school.

Students will assume ownership over individual and group audio projects.  Projects will allow students to express personal interests as well as interests for an audience.  This will allow students to work on communication and writing skills to strengthen their creativity and problem solving abilities.

Students enrolled will discover a world of emerging technologies, as well as script writing assignments. The ability to create audio based projects will allow students to enter the world of media which is so prevalent in society today.

Students will also experience the Orchard Collegiate Academy Audio Recording Studio at the end of the Quarter project by recording their final podcast in the studio.
